MAC Emulsifier For Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC)

Among different insecticide formulations, Emulsifiable Concentrates are one type of formulations, which are popular and progressively used for plant/crop protection purpose. Emulsifiable Concentrate is the formulation in which Emulsifier is used for its preparation.

Considering the fact that the farmers have to dilute Emulsifiable Concentrate with water, which is of unknown hardness, the same has to be sprayed evenly throughout the area at the prescribed concentration. The Emulsifiable Concentrate has to be of such quality that it should give good emulsion on dilution with water of any hardness ranging from 0 to 800ppm, at the same time it should cover each group of foliage in entire area with minimum quantity and with maximum efficiency.

After sustained research, MAC have developed and take this opportunity to offer single as well as two component system for the specific Insecticidal Emulsifiable Concentrates of adjusted HLB to give: –

Excellent Spontaneity
Maximum reduction of particle size.
Greater whiteness (thick emulsion).
Stability under different temperature conditions.
Stability in various water hardness (0 to 800 PPM).
Reduction of surface tension.
Allowing the spray droplet to flatten & spread giving greater coverage & performance.
Above performance at lower dosage than the usual emulsifier.

The formulator is required to use generally two emulsifiers, which form a matching pair. The ratio and the overall dosage of emulsifiers for a given formulation are determined by simple laboratory techniques described in this literature.

Normally, most of the emulsifier manufacturer gives higher margin range for combination of Two-Component Emulsifier. But it may lead to give false indication, so far as perfect optimisation is concerned.

If the perfect ratio (e.g. 50:50) where all particles of EC are supposed to be emulsified as shown in the spontaneity test, it will start showing blooming or show emulsion right from 56:44 and this criteria persist till the combination ratio of 44:56.

For a technologist, it will be a question of his judgement, where to fix up the ratio, rather it will depend on his visibility to see the population of emulsified particles or the denseness of the emulsion. As you may be aware,

More closer to optimum combination proportional to (α)
α More closer to colloidal state (good dispersion)
α More stabilised Emulsion
α More efficiency of the formulation at the farmer level

For that purpose we have kept narrow margin for the ratio of combinations.

The method of screening showed in this literature clearly indicates that we have tried to reach very close to the optimum combination to obtain maximum population of particles and maximum reduction of particle size when the given formulation is in the state of Emulsion.

We are glad to introduce unique 5 Emulsifiers system Namely, Emulsifier MAC- AP, NP, CPN, HZ, AC…..etc. for Pesticides formulations. (Please refer Recommendation Table..These emulsifiers are universal emulsifier working with very low dosage & will give better performance with known solvent systems like Solvent Remax, Aromax, ReIX, C-IX, Xylene & similar or solvents equivalent of the mentioned solvents.

For EC formulations, we hereby are offering to you general pair emulsifiers in 3 different grades which are as follows:

(1) Premium Grade General pair emulsifier, which works at very low dosage and covers most of the formulations and reduce your cost of formulations in optimum way which also improvise your formulations to match any international standards.  Gives an increase in the yield up to 7 ltr per 1000kgs as compare to other general pairs of emulsifiers available in the market.

(2) Mid-range Grade General pair emulsifier, which works at moderately low dosage and covers moderate range of the formulations and reduce your cost of formulations which also improvise your formulations to match any international standards. Gives an increase in the yield up to 3 ltr per 1000kgs compare to other general pairs of emulsifiers available in the market.

(3) Market Grade General pair emulsifier, which works at the same dosage offered by all emulsifier manufacturers bearing the same quality.

The first two grades mentioned above are known for the reduction of the following.

A. Cost of production per batch (because of Lower Dosage & extra yield)
B. Inventory, Stock level
C. Your level of investments in emulsifiers.

Since dosages of Emulsifier changes with change in the solvent system, you are requested to ascertain & optimize the dosage from Min to Max range as mentioned in the recommendation chart while evaluating of the same with different Solvent Systems for example Solvent like 2160, Xylene…etc. requires slightly higher dosages in certain formulations & Solvent like C-IX, Heavy Aromatics …etc. require lower dosages in certain formulations.

Following are the general indications of the combinations and dosage to be used for different Emulsifiable Concentrates for your reference:

Based on optimization method and optimization tips you will automatically derive the ratio and dosage, required to formulate your excellent quality EC formulations which will perform in all the hardness and at the temperature right from 4°C to 42°C though your material is optimize at room temperature of 30°C. However please check for its emulsion stability test in all 3 hard waters if after 1 hour all 3 gives no sediment or no creaming then that particular dosage should be considered as the right dosage of Emulsifier for the pesticides formulation.

NOTE:  The proportions of the Emulsifier suggested are for general guidance only. The optimum quantity  to be used should be worked out after testing the recommended Emulsifiers in the proposed formulation made with procured materials in relation to the desired emulsion performance. This information is based on our general experience, which is believed to be accurate & reliable.

However, there may be other factors beyond our knowledge, experience & control, which could affect the final product.  Hence we cannot assume any responsibility other than for the uniform quality of the product.
